The Funeral
Aug. 6th, 2007 09:02 pmToday was the funeral of our beloved Aunt in Eastbourne. She lived an incredible ninety two years before passing away recently. Tim and Karen came via train and many had come from quite afar to get here today. In al about 27 people were at the funeral and the wake in The Cavendish Hotel afterwards.
It was a lovely service opening with Elgar's "Suspiri" which tugged away at the heartstrings, very emotional really. Two hymns includng the rousing "Jerusalem" and Gabriel Faure's "Pie Jesu" for the committal, and ending with Elgar's "Nimrod" from The Enigma Variations.
At the hotel rather than having too much wine Tim and I sliipped away to the hotel bar for a few beers.
An emotional day - R.I.P. Auntie Joan.
