Picked up a copy of "Urban Classics" this morning that has all ther funkiest grooves on Side 1 and some good soul stuff on Side 2. It is fairly scratchy copy with pops and crackles, and normally i would not bother with this condition as clean copies of this album are quite expensive these days (being an in-demand compilation) but will do till i find a cleaner copy. The A side is ace!! See below -

1/ Maceo and The Macks -  Cross The Trax (We Better Go Back)
2/ The Jackson Sisters -  I Believe In Miracles
3/ Bobby Byrd - I Know You Got Soul
4/ James Brown - Don't Tell It
5/  Fred Wesley and The JB's - Blow Your Head
6/  Fred Wesley - House Party

This will go down a storm. Funkiness personified.

Following on from my charity find this morning ,it is sometimes a record you really want but it is far from perfect conditiont a fair conditon one will have to do ,and somtimes (not often)i have  found records worth loads for pence.'Putting monetary worth on stuff always doesnt cut it with me,and .when i go looking for records i tend to stay well away from knowledgable dealers and big collectors shops (except for grilling their knowledge) so therefore I don't pay massive amounts for stuff that i can stumble across cheap...eventually.

I am currently trying to get some decent eighties stuff real cheap, an easier task than getting some of the more esoteric seventies stuff.

Most diggers run away from the eighties for funk-filled vinyl as most of it is slap bass funkers that you'll either love or hate,or slap-based pop by Level 42 or such ilk. However I do love their "Running In The Family" album which contains quite a few hits and good tunes, and for 20p is another diggin' bargain.  An easy Lp to find though.

Having said that, found some more cheap bargains up London Road. Five albums for £1.25, including a classic Barry White seventies LP "Stone Gon' " (this is for the gal who wanted Bazza at the last Bootfair Club night),Steeley Dan "The Royal Scam" (ABC),which includes the jazzy funk of "Green Earings",George McCae "Rock Your Baby" (Jay Boy),which has the great funky "I Get Lifted", Margie Joseph "Ready For The Night" (Cotillion) which does sound very eighties and has one decent track, and finally Kiki Dee "I've Got The Music In Me" (Rocket),since I had a crush on her when I saw her on TV in the early seventies..

These albums aren't worth any more money otherwise you are being overcharged for them.

Anyway just a few thoughts on diggin' for sounds.
