Back up to London again and this time did some of the same job but in West London.

Afterwards ended up in Portobello Road and visited Honest Jons Records just to browse around and then off to Intoxica! and bought an Eric Winstone and His Orchestra LP "Supersonic Sounds! (Avenue B) for a quid. Perhaps the best LP on this cheap label. Pressing quality is pretty naff ,probably using the cheapest recycled vinyl they could find,  but musically it is very groovy, with a funky "Good Vibrations" on it.

From there to the Xchange emporoiums along the Notting Hill Road and three more albums bought -

The Last Poets "The Best of The Last Poets Vol.2" (On The One Ltd)  £2
Mikis Theodorakis "Serpico" OST (Sakkaris Records) £5
Various Artists "Let The Minstrels Play On,The Best of Muse records" (BBE 2LP)

A good day really.

Had  a storming headache this morning so was not up early enought to get to the station boot fair with the dealers. Anyway had some paperwork to finish off first. A shower and a couple of Nurofen soon got rid of the headache.

Actually got up to the station at 11 am and found five albums at 50 pence or less.

Burt Bacharach - Make It Easy On Yourself (A&M 1969)
Arthur Lyman - Love For Sale (Hi Fi records) - date unknown
Sister Sledge - We Are Family (Cotillion 1979)
Stylistics  - The Best Of The Stylistics Vol.2 (H&L Records 1976) - just for Funky Weekend.
Luther Vandross - Never Too Much (Epic 1981) - title track is great.

Two quid for all five.

Also bought one book from another stall, "Radio Luxembourg Record Stars Book No.5" (Soouvenir Press 1966)  £2
Features all the pop hitters of the sixties  written by the stars themselves. Bought it because there is a piece by Nancy Sinatra called "Father and friends"  and "How To Ruin A Record" by Tom Jones.

Some loungecore finds are still quite easy to get but other older ones are now much harder.Though they're getting much harder to find - and more expensive - original vinyl LPs are still circulating. With hard work, treasures still lurk at boot fairs and in the thrift / charity shops, but that's becoming more and more unlikely. And record stores are finally wise to the value of these pieces. You'll likely have to shell out real pounds at real record stores or pop off to somewhere like Music Exchange (Notting Hill or Camden branch) and look through their tonnes of vinyl. So in a way it was nice to find an Arthur Lyman LP this morning (even if it is an old reissue of an older album.)

Thank goodness that detestable Big Brother is over. I had to suffer it for the last few weeks as L watched it constantly each evening. Thinking that it was safe to go back to the telly another cheap trash has just started - the equally moribund  X Factor, so more weeks of fighting for the remote. Luckily i think this programme is only on at the weekends. I hope i am not proved wrong. Excruciating to watch.
