Croydon Visit

 Yesterday in Croydon doing a job. Afterwards visited Beanos first but the vinyl was not interesting,especilly in the cheap section, and others were still too expensive despite the place going to close down soon.

Then from Memory Lane Records picked up a Tyrannosaurus Rex LP "Unicorn" in their cheap box for a £1, a reissue on one of these cheap reissue labels,but in mint condition. However,101 Records turned up trumps with an Lp by The Nite-Liters,their debut akbum from 1970  (RCA Records) for £4.50 - solid funk instrumentals throughout - and a single on Dakar, Hamilton Bohannon's "Foot Stompin' Music" for £2.

Arty and Ten Minutes Older

In the post this morning current issue of Arty No. 23 , a Seaside Special, and two DVDs from Lovefilm "Ten Minutes Older  - Trumpet & Cello". The Englsih Beach Moderns photgraphs in Arty reminds us that Art Deco had a place in defining the early modern architecture such as The De La Ware Pavillion at Bexhill. Also photographs of Folkstone's Rotunda reminds of days of yore when i was a child playing on the beach. (enough nostalgia for a day).

The Minutemen documentary "We Jam Econo" (Plexifilm) was fascinating and had some realy good live sets by the band on the second disc.A short lived band but became very influential.  DVD now returned back to Lovefilm,however think i will buy it from Amazon.
