This evening a hall test on drinks at the New Madeira Hotel (home to The Funky Fish Club) via UKFS. This morning gave GC some of Lorna's wonderful home cooked food, a chicken curry Thai style. We had coffee then i did a mystery shop at Maplins.

Crossed the road and looked in the Heart Foundation charity shop, and found the following in the 26p bin  (or six for a £1 -

Tom Jones - Help Yourself (Decca LP) -
Tom Jones - Live In Las Vegas (Decca LP)
Tom Jones - This Is (Decca LP)
Los Tres Paraguayos Vol. 1 (Maarble Arch LP)
Los Tres Paraguayos Vol. 2 (Marble Arch LP)
John Gregory Orch. - Gregory Condutcs (Philips LP)  -
versions of "Hawaii Five O" and "Shaft"
Leslie Duncan - Sing Children Sing (CBS LP) - pleased to get this as i had it way back in 71.

The lady only charged me a quid for all of these  seven albums in fine condition - quite chuffed!!!  The John Gregory album has some fine tracks, esp his own "Spies and Dolls" under the monicker of Chaquito.

Then from my other new source the following -

Buddy Miles - Bicentennial Gathering of The Tribes (Casablanca LP)
Rick James - Throwin' Down (Gordy LP)
Joe Sample - Carmel (MCA LP)
Boyz II Men - Vibin' (Motown 12" single)
Whitehead Bros. - Forget I Was A G (Motown 12" single)
Nancy Wilson - How Glad I Am (Capitol 7")

all for four quid.

In the post this morning the reissue CD-
Ed Askew "Little Eyes" (De Stijl) - purchased on the strength of hearing it on WFMU.

Also the latest Robert Wyatt  CD "Comicopera" (Domino)

Right some paperwork to do before going to the hotel - briefing at 5pm.

This was the lager taste test at the Funky Fish Club tonight with pre-recruited young people that  attended as a researchr with the other ladies including  Angela Grappe (in the red top) complaining about the pay for the evning work and other things. Susan Schofield (another supervisor) was also there (GC knows of them both).

Thirsty work and i felt like having a pint myself. When we finished at 10pm i popped into the Evening Star for a real ale to quench my thirst.

The picture is of Maceo Parker blowing his sax who cut the excellent "Acroiss The Tracks".
