More Grooves
Dec. 6th, 2007 09:17 pmSome nice cheap stuff today -
Box Tops - Best of The Box Tops (MFP)
Petula Cark - I Couldn't Live Withouit Your Love (Pye) - beaty version of "Strangers In The Night" ,sounds like a northern soul classic.
Patti Austin - Havana Candy (CTI) - no LP cover but only 30p so no matter
Warren G - I Shot the Sheriff 12" - just a great version of a great Marley song.
Public Enemy - You Got Game 12"
Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five - On The Strength (Elektra)
Africa Bambaataa and Soul Sonic Force - Renegades Of Funk 12"
All from a rekkie shop in my home city run by DJ's and being the type of souls they are never rip you off, hence cheap and in good condition ,if not better sometimes - nothing above a quid in this lot. They do have rarer stuff which you do pay more but at most still less than a twenty pound note. Compare that to say Acroos The Tracks or Wax Factor and you are still better off since i bet Al or Alf would charge at least a fiverr for the Petula Clark album if they knew of the beaty groove which starts the elpee. That RickJames LP would be about a tenner from these guys and not the quid i payed at my new location for such stuff.
So i shall be back there diggin' them rates again.
Two books from Sandpiper -
"Academy Zappa" (SAF)
"The Sweeteer Side of R Crumvb" Robert Crumb - a book that Kulo enthused about many months ago.
Better sign off as L wants to hog the net now.
