Another bleak miserable January day, wet and soggy, with constant precipitation. It is not surprising that some folks suffer a malaise at this time of the year. What is that ailment called , S.A. D (Seasonal Affective Disorder). I think i too suffer from it a little. Anyway January is the bleakest month of the year by far.Roll on summer.
Going through old Guardians this morning i forgot to read the review of the Moondog biography -
http://books.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,2235364,00.html which i think WIRE also reviewed.
It is aready on my wants list ,as well as the Alan Licht book on Sound Art.
Guardian this week has a little booklet each day on Greek myths ending on Friday.
Cleared some paperwork and posted a job off, then got caught in a heavy downpour. That was enough for me. Could not do a doorr to door job in this weather, so i decided to catch up with some DVDs i bought some time ago.
After seeing the Fabrica installation i watched all the vuideos on "Worlds In Flux" by Semiconductor. as well as the previous one "Hi Fi Rise" which has "Crystallisations" by Ian Helliwell on it. Also watched "32 Short Films About Glenn Gould" and via the BBCi downloader "Pop On Trial,The Fifties" hosted by Stuart Maconie. The next one is naturally on the sixties. I wonder what decade LJ folks consider to be the best decade for music?
Popped in to Rounder and bought two sale singles plus a CD. The CD is "The Dial Story , Southern Soul Story" (Kent 2xCD) for six quid and the singles came to £1.50 ,Johnny Osborne "Purify Your Heart" (Trojan) and Odyssey "Use It Up and Wear It Up" (RCA).
They had quite alot of reasonably priced Ace CD comps in store and i might be back tomorrow to purchase somr of these nicely annotated collections.
