I have often pondered the eternal question of when is enough too much. I sometimes feel as though I buy out of habit, compulsion and illness, and I'm sure my bank manager would agree. Thus far this year, it's 100 Lps and counting, which of course is about one every 12 hours, when you think of it logically. This means piles and piles of stuff in varying states of having been listened too, but also stuff tucked away that I've forgotten I even owned that hasn't been listened too in an age. have started off-loading stuff to trade this year at least, which is a step forward. Find I need at least three or four full listens through to most things before I can make that decision though - and it's the inbetweeners that cause most giref - neither blindingly good nor out and out shite.

Anyway,if you buy records - new or old - it seems reasonable to expect a pile of catch-up items which you've yet to listen to. unlike, say, CDs you can't take them to work with you or listen to them on the move (unless you're remarkably gifted). so i don't worry too much about that pile. in fact, it's something to look forward to, knowing i've got some nice music to catch up with.

The big problem is the stuff i've had for some time and am unsure why i really kept it in the first place. and  some of which i don't even like anymore, others i just can't remember.

Typically the compulsion comes in that i can't just get rid of the lot that i'm unsure of.
No. i've got to sift them, listen to them, and make an informed decision, but i still love records,no matter vhat

Some recent speculative punts  -

Malcolm and Alwyn - Fool's Wisdom (Pye LP 1973)

One track, the last one on side 2, " It's Here The Answer Lies" is pretty good, but the LP' is fairly  common to find or its lesser but still vaguely interesting follow-up WildWall. They were the duo behind Edwards Hand, before they Found God, weren't they?

Various Artists - The Most Collection Vol.2 (Music For Pleasure LP)

A varied selection of the hits produced by Mickie Most ,favourites are Lulu "The Boat That I Row",Hot Chocolate "Love Is Life" ,and "Could Have Been A lady" (surprisingly funky) ,and  the version of "Oh You Pretty Thing" by Peter Noone. Another which is quite easy to find.

Rock Killough - Highway 31 (Elektra LP 1980)

Country rock album with a few funky numbers. That is all i know of it.

Illusion - Illusion (Island LP 1978)

Illusion was a British band formed in 1977. They released two albums, Out of the Mist and Illusion on Island Records. Their music was classically-inspired, sophisticated, and polished.

Illusion were intended to be a reunion of the original line-up of soft-prog rock band Renaissance (whose second album was titled Illusion), but singer and guitarist Keith Relff died before the project was realised. McCarty moved from drums to play acoustic guitar and share vocal chores with Jane Relf; the drum chair was taken over by McNeill, and Knightsbridge took over the guitarist's role.

Anyway a nice album which grows on you.

Graham Nash - Wild Tales (Atlantic 1973)

No longer tetthered by the CN&Y supergroup his solo albums were really excellent  and this one is no exception, Good quality rock and some nice country tunes, yee ha!

All for under a quid each.

Also,as for that huge collection for three million dollars on ebay apparently it has been sold to some geezer from Ireland. The story is here -

So apparently it was a done deal.
Who is going to dust that lot?!!!
