Vinyl vs Digital
Nov. 8th, 2008 09:08 amMore shedding of unwanted vinyl and CDs started in earnest yesterday and will continue over the weekend. There are quite a few which are one track ponies such as the Max Greger Orchestra doing "Honky Tonk Woman" on the Stereo Action Vol.3 compilation. A good version, for example, but the rest of the LP is crap. The good ones will stay as mp3 files but inevitably ths will mean investing in a CD player for the DJ events if i am ever going to play it again at my gigs,or even a laptop for said purpose. Eventually sticking to just vinyl will give way to digital files but hopefully it will be in the minority and that vinyl will still hog the decks!
Yesterday, talking to Rick in the Evening Star, he put me on to a distributor friend of his who supplies places like Borderline where he can get vinyl for about £6 to £7 which would retail in Borderline for about £12 - £15. Sounds brillo to me!
On his recommendation picked up the Merrell Fankhauser and His (Trusty) HMS Bounty "Things!" LP (Guerssen) from the Borderline sale. A slab of popsike psychedelia from the sixties which i am growing to love and complements the "Papagayo!" compilation i bought earlier in the week.
