Smoke My Vinyl
Dec. 6th, 2008 10:37 amTuesday, after my gig at the Quadrant and dropping the vinyl off home, and after a shower, i walked down to Rick's place in the centre of town, back of Hell's kitchen, for some more listening to music and as promised loads of the weed to smoke.. We listened to a wide selection of styles from pysche, garage, disco, and folk with his co-resident Chris and friend,Robin. One of the tracks he played , which i have not heard for years, was Simon Dupree and The Big Sound "Kites" single. We also had some dark rum and coke which we all put three quid towards, plus a heavy supply of ganja. Didn't leave til 4.30 am and by then very relaxed and chilled out.
Anyway yesterday found a copy of said Simon Dupree "Kites" single for two quid from Across The Tracks. Also found some other picture sleeve EP singles for a quid each,in tip top condition, plus other grooves from the Barnados charity shop -
Billy Eckstine - Babalu (Mercury EP)
Doris Day - Move Over Darling (CBS EP)
Stan Kenton - Tequila (Capitol)
Keith West - Excerpt from A teenage opera (Parlophone)
plus this great little number -
Simon Dupree and The Big Sound - Kites (Parlophone)
Also,an album was from Borderline.
Gil Scott Heron - Pieces Of A Man (Flying Dutchman LP)
Later this morning a trip to London to do some mystery shops around Portobello and visit MVE before we do our lager experiments.
Had some great news on Thursday - Dan from the Quadrant had left a message on my mobile and gave me first shot at doing a private party for the 12th starting at 7.30pm playing the same kind of grooves i played on Tuesday. Another fifty quid plus free drinks! Well i jumped at the offer and moved a PRS visit, with Sarah Radford's permission, to the Saturday from Friday
