Vinyl,CD's and mp3's

Two Dario Argento soundtrack LPs came in the post today including the famous "Zombi (Dawn of The Dead)" both featuring the Italian prog-rock band Goblin.

Yesterday discovered a Denon CD/receiver unit outside in a black boi recycle tray going for free. Tried it out on the hi-fi system and it sounded good. Then connected it to the Numark mixer and everything was fine till i cued up another CD track and then it went dead. It also means it has a CD of mine in it which i cannot get out as it is no longer working. I was hoping to use it as a second deck to a Technics turntable so i don't have to bring so much vinyl to my gigs. No wonder it was free to whoever noticed it!

Still,undaunted, i connected an old laptop to the mixer and transferred some mp3's via a memory stick to the laptop from the main PC. Mostly stuff which is very rare on vinyl Hey presto, sounds good and with the right settings from the mixer blends in well with vinyl selections. So i might use this combination when i do the Quadrant on Sunday 21st.

It also means that l can bring less vinyl with me.

OK i realise that the sound from an mp3 on a laptop isn't as warm as vinyl but through the mixer it doesn't sound any worse than a vinyl track.This combination might be good fro the Quadrant since i have lost one of my cartridges for the decks since my gig at the Northern Lights on Friday. Luckily the more expensive cartridge i still have but the missing black one still cost near to fifty quid.
