Charity Shopping , Eastbourne and Seaford
Feb. 17th, 2010 10:23 amYesterday went to Seaford and Eastbourne with GC. In Seaford picked up some books and vinyl dirt cheap. The Rough Guide To Reggae for 50p, a Strylistics LP for 50p ,Blood Sweat and Tears LP for a £1 and a single ("British Hustle" by Hi tension) for ten pence.
In Eastbourne picked up a BBC Radiphonic Workshop LP "Soundcase" (BBC 1983) for a quid and is on my Discogs site selling for £17 now. Two other books for 50 pence, and two LPs from another charity shop for 20 p each , Jan Hammer "Escape From Television" (MCA) and Alan Tew "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" (Embassy) . They are not that brilliant but the Hammer LP has the Mimi Vice theme tune and there is a decent version of "The Hanged Man" from the Alan Tew LP which is just a bit too flabby disco for my liking.
Going to Seaford and Eastbourne charity shopping for books and vinyl is certainly cheaper than doing the same in Brighton and even from the same type of charity shop. A case in point is the Heart Foundation shops dotted across the country. The one in Eastbourne had LP's (such as Radiophonic Workshop one) for a quid each but would be about three pounds on average in the London Road branch here. Why the discrepancy? It will mean it may be worth going east from Brighton more often.
I reluctantly watched the Brit Awards last night and generally it was awful. Peter Kay was the wrong person to host the show and some of the sync between the voice and the music was abyssmal. A waste of two hours really! The Mercury Music Awards are much more relevant i think.
Personally i did find much of the music last night not to my liking but i endured it for lhe knowlege base when we start our pub quizzes. GC found that the Office does a Sunday quiz night but i would prefer one which does a Tuesday night. Keep looking.
