The Weekend So Far
Jun. 20th, 2010 07:53 am Friday night at the NORTHERN LIGHTS i played a Latin and Salsa set with Ville and a guest DJ who spun some classic disco tracks and some disco funk, such as Evelyn Champagne King's "Shame" and T. Connection's "Do What You Wanna Do". There was a really good vibe and a great crowd. Chris,an occassional Evening Star bar staff, was also there. Most surprising though, was seeing Ollie and his partner from Riki Tiks, as they were the former managers at the Hampton Arms. He had a chat with me and saying what a good vibe this place generated. That was something i already knew and despite thinking it, but never verbalising it to him,I had the notion that after so long trying to get him decide that i should DJ at Riki Tiks why the hell hasn't he asked me to come along to do so? Perhaps i shall approach the subject another day.
Saturday morning I had a mean headache and feeling somewhat hungovered. I took a couple of Ibuprofen tablets and had a shower, washed my hair, dried off, and drank a Liptons Iced Tea, then lounged stark naked listening to some sufi music. L had left for work dead early, well before i emerged from the crumpled duvet, so I knew i could not disturb her with loud music. I was begiining to feel human again.
I added some more items to the Discogs site and put some vinyl aside to sell at the record shop just off London Road. Afterwards ,feeling peckish, i went out to the corner grocer to buy some eggs (fully clothed by then) and made myself fried eggs on toast.
Later that day went for a walk and picked up £20 for the records.
Last night i watched the last in the current series of WALLANDER. This Swedish detective series has become one of my favourite TV shows and has now given me the itch to read the novels by Henning Mankell, author of the Wallander stories.
I also watched a dramatisation of the trial of the classic D.H Lawrence book "Lady Chatterley's Lover" . This followed Wallander on BBC 4 and afterwards i went to bed feeling very tired and drained.
