Well, i think there is nothing better than a fully functional TARDIS to travel round space and time in. I would change the shape of it though, making sure that the chameleon circuits are working, so it blends in with the surroundings.
I think the shape of my TARDIS should be closer to an Egyptian pyramid similar to the pyramid shaped vessels in Stargate.
The way it would travel would be something akin to folding space-time around it, and hurtling through a hyperspace wormhole to another part of the universe. It would have to rely on hypothetic tachyon particles to go back in time to points in space before it started its journey. Causality will be something of the past in this scenario. In other words B may not always proceed A.
