Sorted out Lorna's laptop today. She could not get onto wi fi nor use the 3 dongle. Popped into Curry's where we got the Dell machine from and they thought it sounded like a software problem.Suggested I back up data or files we needed to keep and restore the system (the Dell recovery program). Luckily i had my external drive to do the backup.Took a good part of the evening to do. It was a long job but now she has a leaner and meaner machine which she now can use and surf the net.

I am off to Kent on Tuesday to see Tim. Seems to be the best day weather wise to go. Better out of here and get my head east.

I just checked the UK singles and download chart. As expected the X Factor shit got the number one spot but i am pleased to see The Trashmen "Surfin' Bird" in at no.3. What did surprise me is that the Cage Against The Machine (No relation to Rage Against The Machine) are in at No.21 with a version of that classic silent piece by avant garde composer John Cage, 4' 33" .

For people who do not know of the original it will be a whole new experience ( listening to silence ) but as John cage pointed out , complete silence can only happen in a vacuum. Even when we shut out all sound in an anechoic chamber we can still hear the breathing of the human body, the heart pumping and other internal sounds.

He died in 1992 but his music is still influential and now has extended to the fickle pop charts.
