There is some advantage of being in the hinterland between Kent and Sussex, with weeks living at Tim’s place ,and the occasional weekly stays at a friends in Brighton. TODAY I am travelling back to Kent to see my cousin and I will be back in time to watch the live coverage of Man. Utd versus Crawley Town in the FA Cup.

Thursday Tony came down from London to visit for a day ,and with Georgina we had lunch at Cote. I had the mussels starter followed by coq a vin washed down with mineral water. A two course lunchtime meal is £9.99 and for a French brasserie is very good value indeed.

Last night I had a buffet dinner down at Gekko. Been there before and it is always good value. Went round three times sampling different flavours. Then when I left to have a quick drink down the Northern Lights a malodorous perfume wafted from the nether regions. Loud too! Luckily nobody was around to notice it!

I would generally agree as it allows transparency and put things on an even playing field.

Arrived in Teynham at 4.10pm after a good journey without too hassle , unlike my journey with the bus breaking down. In Maidstone had a good few minutes to get some pipe tobacco. This time I chose a coffee caramel flavoured shag.

The travel case was a bit heavier with some books and records and a few Cds including my most recent sale from Discogs. I also had a couple of beer glasses to give to Tim which survived the journey. One of them came from the Evening Star “Beer For Punks” and the other a Guinness glass which Georgina gave me.

On my journey I read a few chapters from the Richard Dawkin paperback “The Greatest Show On Earth, The Evidence For Evolution”. It helped to pass the time.

Not the best of days to travel. Dreary wet weather peppered the journey intermittently with the worst of it coming down as we approached Sittingbourne.

We had chilli con carne for dinner. Hot and spicy , but where was that prawn dish Tim promised we was going to have when I phoned on Friday? Still, at least the chilli we had was eye watering spicy and delicious washed down with Co-op Cider.

Watched the FA Cup match between Man. Utd and Crawley Town. Valiant Crawley did themselves proud as they lost 1-0 to a goal which came in the 28th minute of the match. United failed to capitalise on their advantage as Crawley pressed for an equaliser. They came very close to drawing towards the end of the match with the ball skimming off the crossbar. Maybe now more football fans in Crawley will support their local team.

Had to endure some of the Freddie Flintoff programme on ITV4 and I was falling asleep at the moment knowing that the more interesting Faulkes on Fiction was on BBC2.. I hope to catch up with the literature series on the iPlayer in the Dover Castle’s using their free wi-fi tomorrow.

Sometimes Tim can a dilatory individual when it comes to getting things done , but then so can I without a push up the backside. However this coming week will be one to sort out all the rubbish no longer needed such as a few of his father’s clothes (who passed away November 2009) and some of the NHS commodes taking up space in the front bedroom.
