Arrived back In that sleepy hollow better known as Teynham. I didn’t arrive till after 6pm because I had a mystery shop to do in Maidstone and needed an hour to give me time to do my assessment.

I took another of those World Book Night paperbacks to read , including the poetry collection of Seamus Heaney, which I finished whilst on the Brighton and Hove bus.. I left the Heaney book on the seat , making sure I added my name to the back page, and reiterating that the book is to share, and is not for buying or selling (which goes against the spirit of that night). As I disembarked from the bus in Tunbridge Wells an old man behind me thrusted the book into my hand, thinking I had accidentally left it there , rather than on purpose for other people to discover his sharply defined poetry. I told him so in polite but certain terms, and left it in the baggage area near the driver’s cabin.

I have started reading the Mark Haddon book “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” . Already beyond the half way stage I only have just over a third of the book to finish. Trying to write about the book in pellucid prose is always going to be problematical. I find it very funny and clever. His portrayal of an emotionally dissociated mind is a superb achievement.

I think I will post this on to Gareth once completed. It is the kind of off-kilter read I think he would appreciate.

My Donald Byrd /Madlib 45 “Steppin’ Again” (Blue Note) arrived as well. One of the very few purchases i make via Disocgs. Tim said it came this morning. I look forward to playing it when I spin the discs at The Northern Lights come April 1st.
