The Weekend

When I went back to Brighton last time I did pop into the Evening Star for a beer and met Rob , the sagacious environmentalist and painter/decorator, whom I knew for some time. I was drinking the Dark Star American Pale Ale (4.7% ABV). A lovely malty brew. He was trying their new Citrus ale.

I almost forgot about this, so I better make amends now.

FRIDAY

The usual fortnightly trip to Sittingbourne this morning Popped into the Summoner for a traditional English breakfast and coffee beforehand

Afterwards, picked up a copy of “The Catcher In The Rye” by J.D Salinger from a charity shop for £1.50.

Then caught the train to Faversham to do a mystery shop.

I arrived a little early so I walked down to the shop to get my usual pipe shag, and then perused the charity shops. Bought two other books for a quid each in a shop the same street the Wetherspoons pub was in.

One of the books is called "Getting Into Poetry" by Paul Hyland (Blooaxe Books).

I had a couple of drinks in the Leading Light pub, a Hendricks gin and tonic with ice and two cucumber slices and a pint of Everards Early Doors (4.5 % ABV).

Then went back to Teynham for lunch.

SATURDAY

Last night I finished the Agent Zigzag book and then read a bit of Friday's Independent newspaper and the Thursday Guardian.

This morning popped into Teynham library to go online as I have reached the limit on my dongle again.

I noticed that the library has a Senior Citizens Coffee Morning and a Knit and Natter day. I see visions of the blue rinse brigade storming into this small library terrifying the staff with their rolling pins.

The library also has a monthly poetry reading in the evenings/

I picked up a library book, a reference guide to Philosophy and Philosophers. I don't need to return it to them till April 16th.

They have two PCs which you can use and access the internet , but I was recommended that it is best to book your time in advance.Having said that , nobody was on them at the time and I had about half an hour there.

Tim and I had pasta with the chilli halloumi for lunch.

Started reading the Richard Overy book “!939” (Penguin) before I move on to the John LeCarre book, “The Spy That Came In From The Cold”.

SUNDAY

Today we had a cheese and veg omelette for lunch and now watching the Brazil v. Scotland friendly at the Arsenal ground live on TV. Brazil play wonderful flowing football. They won 2-0.

Tomorrow travelling early to get to Brighton
