Food Beer Books
Apr. 3rd, 2011 07:38 pmSaturday I had my meal for the Friday night DJ-ing stint at the Northern Lights, the lovely named Stegt Flaesk , basically Danish pork belly with new potatoes and parsley sauce. Yummy

On Friday evening I ate at Gekko and after finishing my meal I walked out and did not see that one of the glass doors was not opened and hit my nose quite hard on the glass. I must have looked a fool but it was so clear that you could not tell if it was open or not.
The Evening Star has a new Meantime beer on called Chocolate Stout (6.5% ABV), so I had a pint of that on the same night, as their own Critical Mass beer had gone. I gave my copy of “Beloved” by Toni Morrison away whilst there so that somebody else can read this wonderful novel.
Beer prices are still reasonable at the Evening Star. A pint of Hardcore IPA\ or Critical Mass is £4 a pint or the Meantime Chocolate Stout at £3.60. Compare that to Bishops Finger at the Dover Castle, which is at the same price as the Meantime ale, but lot lower strength. That day in London a half of Leffe was £2.50 whilst in the Foundry in Brighton just £2.
Posted off another book Saturday morning. The “!939” book which I finished very recently was sold on Play Trade. I have now finished the Paul Bowman and Richard Stamp edited “The Truth of Zizek” (Continuum). Still not got round to reading the John LeCarre novel but will start it on my journey back to Kent.
