Quaff and Eat
Apr. 16th, 2011 08:38 pmYesterday GC and I went out in the evening to the Holiday Inn. We had a sumptuous three course dinner. Starter was salad or vegetable soup. We both had the salad, a combination you could select from the buffet. I had two fillets of red snapper with roast potatoes and veg selection , whilst GC had the ham. We both had chocolate cheesecake and profiteroles for sweets. Fabulous meal!
Earlier that day I visited the Evening Star and met up with some friends, Gaz, Chris and Nigel. Quaffed a pint of the Dark Star Triple (8.5% ABV) and a half of the Verheghe Barbe d'Or (7.5 % ABV) . I also popped into the Post and Telegraph for a pint of Queens Brewery Plum Treat (4.0 % ABV) and before meeting GC a pint of Mauldons Blackberry Porter (4.8 % ABV) at the other Wetherspoon pub in West Street , called the Brighthelm.
Bought a couple of cheap charity shop book finds as well -
Ezra Pound – Selected Poems 1908 – 1969 (Faber)
and
QI Second Book of General Ignorance (Faber)
Today visited Worthing for another reconnoitre to a Wetherspoons outlet called The Three Fishes to have a meal, gin and tonic and a beer.

Picked up more cheap paperbacks on my perusals -
The Works of John Keats (Wordsworth Editions)
Jurgen Habermas “The Past As Future” (Univ. of Nebraska Press)
Kazuo Ishiguro – Never Let Me Go (Faber)
These will go back with me to Kent.
Already started the John LeCarre novel. Should be finished by tomorrow.
