Guilty Pleasures
Jun. 2nd, 2011 07:35 pmOne of my secret guilty pleasures is Come Dine With Me on Channel 4. This week it has been in the Medway area with funny quirky Lara Leibo from Sittingbourne (although sounding more like an Essex girl) and posh student bod Patrick from Gillingham wowing them with his Heston styled technical gastronomy. Laura was in this week's East Kent Gazette newspaper. It has been hilarious.
One of the best in the series.
Picked up six Icon books for 50 pence in a charity shop in Faversham yesterday, each in their “.. For Beginners” range, and put them on sale at a fiver each. They are on Wittgenstein, Semiotics, Psychology, Chomsky, The Enlightenment , and Postmodernism. They normally sell for £8.99 if new. They look like graphic novels and are introductions to various subjects or people wrapped in an easy to understand manner. The one on Ludwig Wittgenstein I have read already , and I have just grasped his ideas (I think) but would have been flummoxed if I had to read an original text by this philosopher.
