The Cold Comfort Gig Hypothesis
Feb. 11th, 2012 08:33 pmLast night I did a gig at the Northern Lights.
Arrived just before 7.50 pm and had grilled mackerel for my dinner. The place was fairly quiet most of the evening , apart from one group who played Boggle. Then after a while as it approached eleven it became packed out, and then subsided to a quiescent nadir about an hour and a half later, to the extent that I finished the set early with some slow numbers with just one couple left alone upstairs.
The very cold weather may have been a factor in the paucity of customers, and the fact that there is a lot of competing functions in the city, added to the prognosis. Perhaps my original Saturday date would have been better. Well, that is my hypothesis for what it is worth. C'est la vie!
Then, rather having to wait for the late night bus in the freezing cold at a bus stop, I decided to hit a warm Subway and had a spicy Italian six inch Sub. I read my Superstring paperback in the establishment until the time the bus was due to arrive in North Street. Got back to Seaford 4 am and slept till 11 am this morning. It was a truly comfortable warm sleep.
Anyway , the playlist will follow in a separate blog entry and there will be mp3 downloads at some point.
