This evening was the Sunday paradigm of going up to the boozer, the pub, known as The Dover Castle, It was Kev's birthday and we had been invited by Phil to go up, even though Phil did not know that Kev and Kate, Ali, Nigel and wife would be coming up as well.

We had a board of cheese, biscuits, pate, olives, and pickled onions , which everyone tucked in to. It was a jolly good night, ending up with a “one for the road” whisky.

Today I ventured to Dover in this foul wet horrible cold weather. At least the visit is out of the way now, with the result that I picked up a hardback book and a small oil painting. The book is “The Life and Times of Charles Dickens” by Alan S. Watts (Studio Editions).

I was glad to get back to the village, and did not have to wait long for connecting buses. Talking of buses, on the journey from Faversham to Canterbury I had the unfortunate occasion to sit behind a cognitively challenged person talking to their imaginary friend. Luckily they soon alighted.

Whilst in Faversham I picked up a couple of cheap vinyl albums for 50 pence.

Stevie Wonder “Talking Book” (Tamla Motown)
James Brown “16 Greatest Hits” (Polydor)

My Play order arrived in the post, a hardback of the Peter Ackroyd biography of Thomas Moore - “The Life of Thomas Moore” (Chatto and Windus).

My next excursion will be on Thursday.
