Eastry

Wednesday , I had a shitty day in general with altercations with “more than my jobs worth” officialdom from wanking bus drivers over the universal Explorer ticket here in the south east. It seems to me that only Brighton & Hove bus drivers have the full knowledge of the usefulness of a Day Explorer ticket, followed by Arriva and then sadly Stagecoach, whom operate most of East Kent where I was doing a couple of visits.

Combined with a signalling problem at Sittingbourne, and just missing the last bus to the sleepy hamlet , meant I was delayed by over an hour getting back to base.

Picked up some pipe shag in Canterbury, and had a lovely pint of Holden’s Golden Glow Ale (4.4 % ABV) at The Five Bells in Eastry, which is not far from Sandwich.

This morning another book arrived for me from my brother, “The Classic FM Friendly Guide To Film Music” (Hodder Education). One I shall use for quizzes no doubt. Now all I need to juxtapose it is one on funky soundtracks, such as classic blaxploitation films, and the funkier outputs from people such as Henry Mancini and Lalo Schifrin.

I have been listening to the CD that came with the book on film music that I received in the post this morning. This has set me on a quest to check out some of the films these scores have come from, such as -

Diva
Death in Venice
Out Of Africa
Lord Of The Rings
Schindler’s List
Elvira Madigan
..and maybe
Dances With Wolves

Charity shop hunting for said films is now on.
