Dr Who Speculation
Jun. 2nd, 2013 09:46 amThere has been speculation in the papers this morning about the new Dr. Who since Matt Smith said he will be stepping down. The red herring that we saw at the end of the current series will blur the picture as to whom will be next. I doubt very much it would be John Hurt (but he might have been a regeneration sometime in the past). Apparently Matt Smith was unknown before he became the Doctor and that he will follow other actors into film.
Serendipity was in the air as I flicked through the channels and came across a film on Sky Select Movies and noticed a film called "Clone". In this 2012 film Eva Green (a Bond girl) attempts to clone her dead boyfriend (Matt Smith). A Guardian reviewer said this about the film -
"The germ of a good idea lies dormant in the petri dish, waiting for something in this weird, dreary sci-fi romance to shock it into life. In a seaside town of the future Rebecca (Eva Green) is struggling with the sudden death of her lover, Tommy (Doctor Who's Matt Smith) – so she decides to clone him, give birth to Tommy 2.0 and raise him as her son. Things inevitably get discomfortingly sexy, causing Smith to bellow and leap like he's just fixed the Tardis. Shonky science, flat fiction – this should never have left the lab".
I have recorded it to watch later and will defer comment until afterwards.
