Back in Office (Again)
Jan. 2nd, 2014 12:26 pmSo here I am am back in he office and doing the usual print outs of my scenarios for this month. Quite alot of visits which include charity shops, some travel agents, a shoe repairer, a cinema visit, a frozen food retailer, a bank and the scanning survey. There may be other ones coming but on the whole I think this will be enough.
After the crap wet New Years Day today is fine and sunny. In a way I am glad that things are back to normal.

The Paucity of Women In Science
Jan. 2nd, 2014 06:49 pmIs it me or is it a fact that there just too few woman writers in science. This was made clear to me about my list of fifty books chosen, and apart form Lisa Randall, i am struggling to come up with many female names in the physics, astronomy and cosmology fields, apart from Heather Cooper.
Fiction is only a small part of my reading habits, and generally, i am put off by front covers on paperbacks and hardbacks that look as if they are only aimed at females. Even with philosophy one is hard pressed to come up with a female author.
In the field of history things are improving with fine historians such as Lucy Worsley, but in general , apart from science fiction female intellectuals seem to be rather thin, or am i just looking in the wrong direction?
