I exchanged some DVD's at Cex in Sittingbourne this morning.  In the exchange i picked up Woody Allen's "Crimes And Misdemeanors" and just paid an extra 80 pence.

Last night i watched the DVD of the Gwynneth Paltrow film "Elizabeth" and found it to be very entertaining, although i cannot vouch for its historical authenticity. However, I shall be reading In Mortimer's "The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England" at some point within the next few months.

Other films on DVD's i have watched recently are "Invasion" ( a remake of "Invasion of The Body Snatchers"),  "Millers Crossing" and "Black Swan".

I will be catching the bus to Sheerress to do another mystery shop  within the next hour.

One of the companies i work for specializes in covert mystery shops in charity shops. That is one of the reasons i frequent these shops.Depending on where i go, some of these places have very interesting items whilst others , i must admit, have crud. A case in point was the one i did today in Sheeeness, a Red Cross outlet. I have done this one a few times and i know roughly what to expect which is mostly crud. However on this occasion, sifting through the endless mediocre pop stuff and cheap label compilations, I found this absolute gem -

A double CD of Richie Havens first two albums on the Verve Forecast label reissued by an Australian based company called Raven Records in 2010, and until now, not heard of said label. Havens is a  true pioneer of American folk jazz at a silly price of two quid.

This s as good a find of finding the Ennio Morricone gothic film stuff, or that revamped library music put out by the James Taylor Quartet a few weeks ago in Rochester.

Not only that, but the same charity shop  had a DVD of Kevin Smith's "Clerks". The visit was completed with two paperback books, a novel by Pam Jenoff "The Kommandants Girl" and a poetry book, "The Iron Wolf" by Ted Hughes. A fiver well spent and of course getting paid for it.

In all, a positive result, except for the fact that my  return bus did not turn up and i had to wait an hour of the next one, so i spent some time in the library.
