- Thu, 19:52: Perhaps tomorrow will not be as wet
Feb. 7th, 2014
Another morning spent in the Office whilst the weather improves. It is now very sunny outside but alas tomorrow will be back to the monotonous rain come the following day.
Last night i watched the DVD of the Kevin Smith movie "Clerks". Years ago i thought it was funny, but now just find it a bit gross and tedious.

Cheap Stuff
Feb. 7th, 2014 02:54 pmThree CD's found in the Demelza charity shop, Sittingbourne, for 25 pence each today -
Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning (Saddle Creek Records)
Daryl Hall & John Oates - Do it For Love (Sanctuary Records)
Afro Celt Sound System - Volume Two: Release (Real World Records)
Quite a mixed bag, and apart from the Bright Eyes album, i know roughly the type of music i am expecting from these albums.

Americana, Soul and World Music
Feb. 7th, 2014 11:58 pmWell i have had my free haircut today from J K Hair, and it looks very neat indeed. Much better than the mess it was in beforehand. They can use me as a model anytime they need to cut a gent's hair.
Started listening to the three cheap CD's today. I started with the Bright Eyes album , which i found to be an interesting slab of Americana, that hinterland between country, folk and rock music. Emmylou Harris guests on a couple of tracks as well. Verdict so far, a good solid album but no earth shatterer.

Next up was this 2002 album from Hall & Oates, well known for some quality blue-eyed soul music The quality of musician is excellent and they still have the vocals to give a solid soul performance. This seems to hot the spot with "Miss DJ"" being a highlight. I feel quite positive to the CD but nothing here quite matches classics such as "She's Gone". Perhaps i am just being a bit pedantic as this is all new material which will need repeated plays.

Finally, the multi-instrument and ethnically diverse Afro Celt Sound System album "Release" from 1999. (Crikey, has it been that long ago). I did have their first album at one time so i knew this would be right up my path. Instantly fell in love with this one. I am sucker for the bodhran and the uillean pipes.
