Last night i watched the DVD of Withnail & I, which is a darkly hedonistic funny comedy about two out of work thespians , who find that they have to get out of London (1969) to the countryside to the bleak wind and rain swept Welsh countryside. If you not seen it then i will not mention what happens, but simply just recommend it. The film came out in 1986 and i was watching the extended 1999 DVD version. It launced the careers of Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann.

Here is a clip, a taster, from it -

and the

and towards the end the famous Camberwell Carrot scene -

Enjoy.

Did not leave home till midday due to a very poor truculent start to the morning, being that it was an intense downpour, but by midday the weather had cleared up and it was quite sunny.
I did two visits today, one in Paddock Woos and the other in Tunbridge Wells.

I did a charity shop shop in the former town and came out with three books and a DVD for a five pound note, the classic The Big Lebowski , a film i have watched innumerable times and still find it so funny, much like Withnail & I.

The books are as follows -

Afterwards i did a drinks visit at The Bedford pub in Tunbridge Wells, and checked out the re-opened Halls Bookshop.Lack of time meant it was just a quick perusal but at least now i know it is open i shall definitely spend a few hours in there one day.

It is a book lovers orgasm!

So after drawing myself away from there, reluctantly, i walked up to the Bedford and had three pints of beer.

These were -

Kent Brewery Pale Ale (4.0 % ABV)
Long Man Brewery Old Man (%.3 % ABV)
Baseline Brewery Dark Matter (5.5 % ABV)

In the end it was a fabulous day.
