More Bits N' Bobs
Jan. 21st, 2015 10:39 amI see that there is another series now in its third season on the Syfy channel called Continuum. Just want to know if it is any good?
Posted a small book off to the States this morning, one of my most recent reads. I remember buying it in a sale at Waterstones, but not this year but the previous January for a pound. So having made a profit of £1.55 i am satisfied that it is going to a good home. The postage was a staggering £7.45! It was covered so i am not out of pocket.
Yesterday we had some new street lights put up, and this is possibly why we had a minor blackout around teatime.
Was going to the pet rehousing centre today but checking their website they are closed on Wednesdays, so i shall be going tomorrow instead.

Hand Drawn Maps
Jan. 21st, 2015 11:48 amInspired by the hand drawn maps from the book i have just finished here is one that i did for a possible meet up with somebody who does not know this area and needs direction to points of interest, specifically pubs, as i imagine them to be a drinker. MORE SPECIFICALLY A REAL ALE DRINKER !!
Opposite "my house" is a building i forgot to mention next to Station Road which is our local fish and chip shop. The post office is also our local pharmacy. The square between the A2 and High Street is The Forum , an indoor shopping area.

This was a rough sketch done on a sheet of A4 paper. What would be your hand drawn map and your points of interest? The ball is in your court, so to speak.

Been reading more of The Wire magazine and an interview with Mica Levi , who started as an underground pop star and now a composer. This is her music to Under The Skin , a track called Love , full of microtonal strings and electronics in an hypnotic score.
The film itself looks fascinating and stars Scarlet Johansson. Here is the trailer -
Here is an interview with Mica Levi and her band -Micachu And The Shapes and a collaboration with London Sinfonietta - 4Play Documentary -
Not heard of her before i must admit. Thanks Wire mag!

Cloud Atlas Film
Jan. 21st, 2015 11:57 pmJust watched the film version of the David Mitchell book Cloud Atlas again. Enormous fabulous film that is about transcending boundaries. All the actors m well most of them, have more than one part, three or more, such as Tom Hanks, Jim Broadbent, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, Ben Wishaw, Hugo Weaving and Xhou Xun in a millennium expanding universe of connected stories from the 18th century, via Neo Seoul in 2144 to the far future. A marvelous film of a marvelous book.
Here are some clips ,an appetizer -
Worth watching again and again.
