Various Things Make Posts
The important things first: many of you know
canaan . She's superbly cool, talented, and a fantastic human being. She's also in need of some support right now. The good news is that she now knows what illnesses she's fighting; the bad news is that she's fighting those illnesses in the U.S., where single payer health care or even ethical insurance-driven health care are things we can't even begin to hope for. (Yes, she has some insurance coverage; no, not nearly enough.) Here's her GoFundMe page. As she says elsewhere, she knows many of us don't have a lot to give - but if you can't give money, help spread the word, eh?
Any and all help would be appreciated, loves - spread the word if at all possible. Let's see what we can do to help this dear woman out, yes?

This took a bit to get all the new pictures taken and everything listed. Amber's Step-dad has been in ICU the last few days due to a GI bleed so things have been a bit topsy turvy around here. He has Atypical Cirrhosis of the Liver due to complications from his Diabetes, it's what caused the bleed. They've had to insert bands on his liver and will do a stent when he's a bit stronger. Ricky's not my favorite person in the world but I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Plus, I know Amber and Suzie both love him so I've done my best to be there for them. So, there's not been a lot of time to work on this.
I've done what I could in spare moments. I've added a ton of new stuff for sale. I've got pictures of almost everything uploaded so just click on the links to see anything I've listed. If it says NWT that means it still has its tags on it and has never been used. There's a lot of new jewelry in the mix and this is just the beginning. I've got boxes of stuff from Sherrie still to go through and there will be more to come. Just what I've seen so far is really pretty.
I've got my fingers crossed that things will sell well. Our medical bills continue to eat us alive and the State has been getting more threatening about the back taxes. We could handle having one or the other to pay, having both makes it almost impossible to make it month to month.
If you see anything you'd like, just let me know, we can figure out what postage will be then add it on. I can do checks but would prefer PayPal if possible. My PayPal addy is bstaton at iglou.com. If you don't have a PayPal account I found out that I can just invoice you for whatever you want to buy and then you can use either your debit or credit card to pay. I've done that for a couple of people and it works great.
Here's the finished list, finally. It took me staying up all night but at least now it's done. I can always sleep for a bit today while Lee and Amber are gone.
( HELP US STAY AFLOAT YARD SALE: )
Please, if you wouldn't mind, any help spreading the word about this, or the GoFundMe account that jj1564 set up for me, would be muchly appreciated. I'd really appreciate it and could sure use the help.
Thanks, guys, as always, for your friendship and your help. I don't know what we'd do without you.
*hugs*

What If You Could Change The Past?
Oct. 1st, 2015 09:16 pmWow! I have just watched the most thrilling DVD starring Denzel Washington - Deja Vu This is exactly what he does. It is an action thriler from 2006 with science fiction elements but is taut throughout the film. For those who want to konw what it is all about the link to wiki tells all (spoiler alert) but if you can rent it, Netfix it or whatever i highly recommend this well scripted drama.

Slavoj Zizek "Enjoy Your Symptom! : Jacques Lacan in Hollywood and Out" (Routledge)

Clarity of language and argument one finds rarely in current theoretical writing or in psychoanalytic writing. Here Zizek has structured his book so that nearly every idea gets two chances to impress the reader.
This book presents a pleasing mixture (as most of Zizek's books do) of the cultural, political, philosophical, and Lacanian munch.
Each chapter sets out to answer a question posed by the chapter heading (e.g., Why is Reality Always Multiple?). First Zizek approaches a solution or description of the problem as it appears in Hollywood films. These Zizek treats as texts or case studies. Whatever your opinion of the merits of psychoanalytic description for general use, the discussion of the films makes marvelously amusing reading. As demanding for this reader as the steep range of theoretical vocabulary employed is the ample library of films from which Zizek draws his examples. Many of which films I'd never seen. The second section of each chapter recasts the first approach through film in the language, theory and realm of analysis, theory and philosophy.
A tough read i admit , challenging and thought provoking, it is worth the struggle, as the application of his critical arsenal to Hollywood without the baggage of Politics and History, makes room for exposition through a universal and more immediate medium.
