The "LJ Interests" Meme
Nov. 28th, 2015 02:22 amThe LJ "interests" meme that i saw on
crazybellatrix's blog has fired me up. To reiterate -
Look at your LJ “interests” list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. / If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. / If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. / If you have fewer than ten, pick all of ‘em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
I too think i have around a hundred and forty , and hence will pick every ten.
10. Avant jazz Jazz at its most radical and experimental. Not everyone's cup f tea but with exponents such as John Zorn the music is edgy.
20/ Deconstruction I am a huge Jacques Derrida fan and because it deals with the relationship between text and meaning.
30/ Existentialism Here i am with Sartre and others in which the emphasizes on individual existence, freedom, and choice. We make our own choices , whether good or bad, without external forces.
40/ Georges Perec The reason i like this author and essayist is that his work abounds with experimental word play.as well as lists and attempts at classification, and they are usually tinged with melancholy.
50/ Harry Smith simply because he was a visual artist, experimental filmmaker, record collector, bohemian, mystic, and largely self-taught student of anthropology. Smith was an important figure in the Beat Generation scene in New York City, and his activities, such as his use of mind-altering substances and interest in esoteric spirituality, anticipated aspects of the Hippie movement. Besides his films, Smith is widely known for his influential Anthology of American Folk Music, drawn from his extensive collection of out-of-print commercial 78 rpm recordings.
60/ John Zorn Well, not just an avant garde jazzist, but a guy who has filled many musical holes and within the same space of ten minutes on some of his Filmworks collection and his hammer drilled punk thrash jazz collective.
70/ Man Ray Endlessly fascinating photographer bar none.
80/ Nakedness Well being a male , horny and so on, it has be one of my interests.
90/ Paul Klee One of my favourite modern painters His individual style was influenced by movements in art that included Expressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism.

Red Balloon, 1922, oil on muslin primed with chalk, 31.8 x 31.1 cm.
100/ Real Ale Well, as you all know, one of my pet pastimes is drinking real ale,, aka beer.
110/ Salvador Dali Another of my favourite modern surrealist painters.

The Persistence of Memory (1931)
120/ Socialism Indeed comrades, the only way forward.
130/ The Gaurdian I still read this newspaper but now online.
140/ Wine Although i do not drink it as often it is still a passion of mine.
