Watched the first episode of the third season if Agents Of SHIELD tonight. Epic start to this awesome series from Joss and Jed Whedon based on the Marvel Comics superheroes. So Simmonds is stuck on an alien planet. So the monolith is some kind of black hole device for interstellar instantaneous transport? More questions to be be answered i guess. Meanwhile, i can ogle at the lovely Chloe Bennet, aka Daisy // Skye, aka Quake. She is my favourite Inhuman.

Pierre Boulez, another of my all time favourite artists , passed away this month on the 5th. Hr was French composer, conductor, writer and pianist.
He was also the founder and director of the Paris-based Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM).

In his early career, Boulez played a key role in the development of integral serialism, controlled chance and electronic music. This, coupled with his highly polemical views on the evolution of music, gained him the reputation as an enfant terrible.

As a conductor, Boulez was known mainly for his performances of Béla Bartók, Alban Berg, Anton Bruckner, Claude Debussy, Gustav Mahler, Maurice Ravel, Arnold Schoenberg, Igor Stravinsky, Edgard Varèse, Richard Wagner and Anton Webern. He received a total of 26 Grammy Awards during his career.
Here are some of his highlights -

This article from Wire magazine conveys the passing of Bowie succinctly and as with the magazine n a very intelligent thoughtful way.

Emily Bick perceives the collapse of possibilities in the wake of Bowie's death.

Claire Bishop "Installation Art" (Tate)

I found this book to be a well-written, clear explanation of the history of installation art from as early as the surrealists to the date it was published. Some of the images are too small to get a better feel for the installations they are depicting, but the descriptions of these installations are usually detailed enough for a good idea. This book along with "From Margin to Center" pretty well covers the subject up through 2004. Something needs to be written to capture the amazing works that have been happening since then. I'm waiting for that to happen.
