I had a round robin trip through Knet on Stursay. Going first to Faversham to get some pipe tobacco and then Ashford for a fashion store visit, next Tenterden for a charity shop visit and a factory store visit ending up in Headcorn for the final visit of the day.

I did manage to find some interesting books though.

Deborah Davis "Strapless" (Tarcher)

Great Book! I started this book late December not expecting to be interested and ended up hardly able to put it down. I remember learning a very little about John Singer Sargent in school. This is a book I would recommend to teachers. It is not only a really great look at the art world in the 1800's but I found the brief looks at Wagner, Proust, Oscar Wilde,Sarah Bernhardt etc.,etc. very interesting

In fact this book's casual tone and brisk pace belie the serious scholarship it's so clearly been based on. This would be an excellent gift for anyone interested in recent art history, 1880s Paris, or just a light, informative non-fiction read.
