Harry Beckett: Flare Up (Philips 1970)
Stare into Harry’s eyes on the cover shot and you get the sense he wants to do the nasty with your frontal lobes. Harry, you see is hardcore. This is a hard hitting LP with a very British flavour.

Lunch Club Day
May. 2nd, 2017 09:29 pmToday Phi land i travelled down to Brighton for our monthly lunch club visit. We first met up with the lads at the Post and Telegraph pub for beers.

Graeme, Phi land Mike .
Notice which is is not the tech savvy one?
We had this beer, and the lads kept calling it Red Bollocks. It tasted very good.

After a couple of beers we then walked down North Street to Bella Italia for lunch.

Phil,Graeme,Mike on the left,Lesley and her son , Chris ,on the right. This is the first time he has been to one of our lunches. He is a student at The University of Kent in Canterbury studying social anthropology. He lives on campus at the moment but will be moving into student digs at some point. I suggested he check out the Spoons pub in the city and in particular The Westgate Inn.
We started with the small ciabattas dipped in garlic. Mike had his usual pizza and this time i tired a beef and red wine ravioli. It was delicious.
A thoroughly enjoyable day as well.

Graham Collier Sextet
May. 2nd, 2017 10:29 pmWhen Phil dropped me back home i rested for awhile listening to some Tubby Hayes jazz music. I just want to explore some of the great jazz that came out of this country back in the late sixties, sixties and early seventies.
Mike is getting me a lovely three CD set of Graham Collier's music for my birthday. I gave him a couple of books.

Graham Collier's Sextet made some extraordinary jazz albums between 1968 - 1972.
Collier's compositions on the LP "Songs For My Father" range from the modal to free in a comprehensive and capable outing of British Jazz. The track 'Song One' Is a 9 min + mid tempo assault.
