A package arrive from my brother today. Two books,one on Faversham and another Joan Didion paperback ,but more importantly, a A FiiO X1 DAC portable music player - basically an mp3 /mp4 player. Just plug in headphones or active speakers.

There was over 1000 tracks on it which my brother keoo on there. have transferred them to the Comapq laptop hard drive and will sort them out accorrdingly. I will keep the classical stuff on the Michael Bolton? That will be removed straigt away.I will reset it to factory settings and put my own music on the device.

Other People's Music

Discovering other peoples music choices can be fun. I have uoloaded all my bro's muisc on the mp3 player, and apart from great jazz by Bill Evans, and John Coltrane,there is a rather bland Pat Metheney album - well most of his is rather bland except for the one he did with Ornette Coleman. That was particular angular and now!

Then there are the surprises like Rihanna? Very down with the kids. Quite enjoying this "Unapologetic" album - high energy pop disco i guess.Not something you would see in the hallowed pages of the Wire magazine. Although her music is derived from genres Wire would have looked at years before it went mainstream.

He definiely should check out M.I.A !

Mind you i am into grime, dubstep and drum n' bass so there ya go!
