I blame
stargazer60 for getting me to look at road bridges. Their Chesapeake Bay Bridge (which she mentioned in their post) is 28.32 KM long which makes it the ninth longest road bridge in the world.
Now I have been looking at others. The longest one in the USA is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge which is 38.62 km long. It is the longest continuous bridge over water. It is composed of two parallel bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana. The twin bridges consist of four lanes carrying traffic from New Orleans and Jefferson Parish to the residential communities of St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana.
And yes, there is a video to go with it. Anymore boring road bridge facts you want?
No bridge in the UK even makes the top twelve.

Why Mahler?
May. 6th, 2019 05:45 pmFinally, it has been a much more settled day. Thank goodness one holiday day os not as wet lol!
Did not do much anyway except for hoovering this morning ., listening to the radio, reading and so on. Achieved some great results playing along with BBC Radio 4's Brain Of Britain today. Nobody got the Mahler piece - unbelievable. I recognised it straight away as hs magisterial 8th symphony - or the symphony of a thousand it has been remarked, and do not ask me why except it requires massed voices as well as the whole orchestra.
I might find more from this paperback I found in the Fleur Bookshop in town on Saturday for £1.

My favourite of his is still the 5th.
Here is the 8th Symphony.
G. Mahler: Symphony No. 8 in E-flat major
Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks
Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Mariss Jansons, conductor.
Gasteig, München, 2011.
And the wonderful 5th conducted by Claudio Abbado.
Enjoy.

My Fantasy Viewing
May. 6th, 2019 10:33 pmCloak And Dagger
This is a series that I have really enjoyed so far. Quite different to the usual Marvel fare.
Supergirl
Love this series although there have been some moments of things being dragged out it still gives me a thrill when she kicks ass.
DC Legends Of Tomorrow
This is the light relief, the fun and the silly but I love it. Plus it has Constantine!
The Flash
Another staple of DC - and going from strength to strength.
Supernatural
Well, now that Chuck - aka God - is back and not happy, what next for the Winchesters?
