Well, arrived home at nine and I have been busy listening to some of these recent purchases such as Count Basie and Charles Mingus but as I will be busy tomorrow with a few visits including a chocolate shop I shall listen to the rest on Sunday.

Very windy yet sunny day. Had a good rest and ready to get down to Ashford to do my chocoholic visit. Then over to Maidstone for a techy one and up to Chatham for a sandwich shop.

Meanwhile, as I am listening to disc one of the Eric Dolphy set, here is a pic of Rays Jazz Shop.

I could spend all day there.

I was walking up West Street in Faversham to sell some books at Past Sentence. I decided to pop into the RSPCA charity shop where two CD's are a quid!

These are the two -

I had a feeling that the one on the left "Weird Nightmare, Meditations On Mingis|" by Hal Willner was a bit of a hard one to find, so I checked Amazon.

Both CD's are still shrinkwrapped and thus brand new.

The Wire did a Primer on Charles Mingus in 2004 and this is the section of the primer discussing the CD.

A stonking find!

A nightmare journey back from Ashford on the 666 bus.

We left the town at 4 pm and then had to slow down two-thirds of the way from Faversham due to a large tree that had collapsed during the gales right across the A251 - and must have happened recently - as the fire brigade was on the other side trying to cut the branches to clear the road.

We were informed it would take two hours to clear it. There were around six passengers on our bus and we persuaded the driver to turn round and go via Selling. Trouble is - road being narrow - and that the driver did not do a five-point turn brushed the side of the bus against the hedges taking off a panel on the side of the bus. He informs us he cannot drive the bus that way due to insurance and that we would have to get off at Challock - halfway back to Ashford and wait for a service bus to take us to Canterbury and then pick up a bus from there to Faversham. Time was flying by and the last number 3 buses from Canterbury would be at 7pma and then 9 pm.

So no way would we put up with that delegation of duty. Three passengers phoned a friend to pick them up from Challock, and the other two, a husband and wife, phoned their daughter who was visiting them in Faversham to pick us up. They took me as well and dropped off by the Ship Inn pub just around the corner from me, as they lived quite nearby. So luckily I was home by 7 pm!

I should have stayed in bed this morning!

However, I do have some nice chocs from Lindt.

So Sunday is definitely a jazz and choco day!
