Pub Visits
Aug. 26th, 2019 08:05 amWell, I was doing nothing yesterday until six in the evening. It was still hot then. I walked into town - about a mile - but fifteen to twenty minutes walk time - and had a pint of Plum Porter in my local Spoons pub before catching the train to Chesfield and Swaleclifd to do my covert pub visit there. Then as I had still time available I caught the train back to Faversham and down to Canterbury to do my second covert pub visit. At that time in the evening, there were no barriers down so I had free train rides there and back.

Swalecliffe pub

Canterbury pub.
Arrived back home at around 9.30 pm. A much cooler evening thankfully.

Damn Buses Again
Aug. 26th, 2019 09:09 amCompleted my reports for last night's visits.
It is another sunny day. Yesterday I recorded 30 C on my app in the garden here. We might just make 29 C today and similar hotness tomorrow.
It is a Bank Holiday so buses are still on Sunday service and hence none going Ashford way. There is the 333 bus which does Sittingbourne only now! If you want to get to Maidstone you have to change there and catch the 334 from the island (Isle of Sheppey to the uninitiated).
At least those on the island can travel by bus on Sundays to Maidstone, and weekdays they get two an hour now! They did not have a Sunday service until the recent changes from Arriva. Still hate the bus company though.
Good news tho - Monday to Saturday the Stagecoach 3X is still doing an hourly service from Canterbury to Sittingbourne except for Sundays - and by inference today.
So, think it will be another day in the garden sunbathing.
