I have another batch of careers advice telephone mystery shops to do. Did one this morning and will do the other later today and first thing in the morning.

Weather is occasionally sunny but not very warm. The forecast is for a much warmer weekend. I hope so. June so far has been crap.

I will be doing a postal address checks tomorrow now. These will be the two in Sittingbourne and then Newington will be targeted for Tuesday next.

I have rediscovered the delights of crunchy peanut butter. I will having fish later so I might add a peanut sauce topping.

Joni Mitchell - A Case Of You

A stunning remake. . Her voice deeper, more haunting, more revealing. Reflections of a life lived. Written at 26 and now sung at age 57-- a woman who has seen more love, more sadness, more joy and more heartbreak than the younger composer. It's always been my favourite of Mitchell's tune.

Laetitia Sadier - Life Is Winning

The ex-Stereolab lass best album to date.

Mummer Love is the latest Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith collaboration to take the romantic ideal of the wandering poet as its starting point. 2016’s Killer Road and this year’s The Peyote Dance assumed the psyches of Nico and Antonin Artaud respectively, reworking their poetry against field recordings made in the far-flung locations of their searches for spiritual freedom. Mummer Love’s subject is Arthur Rimbaud, whose teen angst poetry is presented in the context of an underreported later period in his life, when he had given up poetry to become a merchant in Ethiopia.

Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith - Mummer Love

Mummer Love is a continuation of Patti Smith’s lifelong fascination with Rimbaud, a seam that runs through her work in poetry, music and memoir, as well as her personal aesthetic. The title track is the only original Smith lyric here, a direct address to her object of fascination (“I have pulled into your town/I walk the streets that you despised”) but otherwise Smith interprets Rimbaud’s words through half-sung incantation.

High fling music.

Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith - Peradam

The sound of Himalayan winds, sacred mantras and water rippling in the holy river Ganges, invite us to Peradam, the transcendent new album by Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith, featuring ANOUSHKA SHANKAR, TENZIN CHOEGYAL, and CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG. Peradam takes as its entry point RENÉ DAUMAL’s early 1940s novel Mount Analogue: a Novel of Symbolically Authentic Non-Euclidean Adventures in Mountain Climbing, in which the French writer, critic and poet mapped a metaphysical journey to “the ultimate symbolic mountain” in search of meaning. In it, Daumal introduced the idea of the “peradam”, a rare, crystalline stone – harbouring profound truths – that is only visible to seekers on a true spiritual path.

Produced by Soundwalk Collective for Bella Union
All music produced by Soundwalk Collective in Rishikesh, Varanasi, Paris and NYC
