Well, slightly hinted yesterday, my choice of soundtrack album today is the classic sci-fi horror movie The Thing. First time I saw that film I jumped out of my cinema seat as much as the first Alien movie. Morricone is known for lush orchestration but less so for electronic scores. This is still one of the finest soundtracks around.

Another dull day - overcast milky whiteout. Still, four items sold on eBay over the weekend help to bring a smile.

This morning I was preoccupied with the completion of reports and started another mystery phone call job. Now I do have a visit to do this week in Medway which I will probably do either tomorrow or Wednesday. After then, I will be checking what the next measures the government will bring in to tackle the COVID problem. The Medway one should be okay as it is a food shop but I have others which are not food shops and I hope that they will be open again. One such visit is a chocolate shop at Bluewater and a charity shop elsewhere. We shall see.

I have almost completed another paperback book , and this will be number ninety-six. So it looks like I am well on the way to reach a hundred reads by the end of the year.

So now, before it gets darker today, I will post these items to expectant recipients from my sales. Oh and I better sort out my Xmas gifts to bro and sister-in-law as well as friends such as Phil, Gareth and Ewart this week. It is December tomorrow.

Four selections pulled from the collection -

Brian Wilson presents SMiLE - Heroes and Villains

The project was originally planned to be released in 1967 as a Beach Boys album, written in collaboration between Wilson and lyricist Van Dyke Parks.
It was conceived as a musical journey across America from East to West, beginning at Plymouth Rock and ending in Hawaii, traversing some of the great themes of modern American history and culture.

The original failure to complete SMiLE has been attributed to several factors: internal resistance towards the project, legal battles with Capitol Records, technical difficulties with recording, Carl Wilson's draft battle, and Brian Wilson's escalating drug use, mental health issues, and creative dissatisfaction with the project.

Nearly 40 years later, Wilson chose to revisit the material with Parks, releasing it as a solo album in 2004.

Scott Walker - Jackie

Laura Nyro - Wedding Bell Blues

Can - Mother Sky (1970)
