What do you think of the Brexit referendum results?

Do you think the EU will split up?

Do you think the rats are leaving the sinking shop?

Do you think the US is really free?

I am shocked at the results of Brexit and I hope it doesn't go thru. But the sentiment is there so it seems like a really tough situation.

I do not think the US is free, unless one has a lot of money, then it might feel free, sigh.

I don't know enough about the first three to have an opinion. As to the last, oh, HELL NO.

I am confused by it.

Not sure...Is the sinking ship the EU? I don't understand a lot about it, but much of what I read has to do with the fear of immigrants.

No, not free unless you are in the 1% and inherited your wealth. We are slaves for $$$$

So full of rage. Like, it doesn't personally affect me, except to the degree that I have lots of friends there, and my boyfriend is British, and his mom is a foreigner who is still living in the UK, and there are in general huge cultural links between the UK and Canada, so I do end up caring a substantial amount about British politics.

No, I think the banks will sort it out. :)

I think many, many things are headed for collapse.

I don't even think Americans, a few pints in, believe that they're genuinely free.

I think people were woefully misinformed (particularly the youth who thought their votes wouldn't make a difference).

Maybe not completely split up, but it is likely to lose more chunks around the edges.

Yes. Not that I would want Cameron, Johnson or Farage to stay around an instant longer, but they have contributed to a horrible mess and should be made to deal with the consequences.

No more than any other country, if you mean the freedom of the collectivity - in part because it also has huge obligations to the multilateral system. If you mean the freedom of individuals, I think it is freer than many. At the same time, other countries considered "not free" have a lot of rights for their citizens that the USA doesn't always provide.

I was shocked, then horrified. Now I'm scared for Britain and all of her people.

Yes. Because leaders can be foolish and most will ignore what is truly going on in favor of furthering their own agendas. Disaster, really.

I wish. I wish they would leave BEFORE sinking said ship.

No. Hasn't been since we first stepped foot here, despite our efforts. Most of our efforts were in displacing and oppressing others so the conquerors could be 'free'. So no. We aren't. and if our leaders have anything to do with it, we won't be for a long, long time.

*HUGS*

People will have cause to regret it' On the other hand, now maybr the experts will shut up and see what the grass roots come up with.

Eventually. Change is the only constant besides birth and death.

I know very little about either rodents or ships. But i think the rich and powerful will always try to find somewhere to go where they can hold on to wealth and power.

People in the US are not free within any meaning of the term that seems reasonable to me. Yesterday i watched a roomful of homeless Americans watch a patriotic show on TV. I could not read their faces, but they looked respectful; i could not read their silence, but it seemed rapt. Most of us believe what we are taught to believe. And where is freedom if not in the mind and heart?

I was pretty shocked at first but am now getting used to the idea.

Well, Italy is thinking of leaving today. It was forecast that it would cause a 'domino effect'. I think it would be disadvantageous for the countries in it for it to break up.

What rats?

Hmmm...I think all markets are globally connected these days.

Never thought I would see the day that we would be leaving the EU.

It will seriously dwindle if they don't reappraise their current policies.

To a point, but I would most definitely say that about Cameron. Contrary to popular belief, he DID cause this, even if he was a Remain Campaigner. Where is he now? Other than making a handful of visits to various places, he has all but vacated his seat NOW.

No.

1. Very sad. I think it will prove a huge mistake and be very damaging for the UK. I certainly didn't support every little thing the EU did, but what we'll get now will be much, much worse. I also think it will probably lead to the break-up of the UK, with Scotland choosing independence primarily so that it can stay in the EU.

2. No. Support for the EU in most countries has gone up since the referendum. It may well undergo some major structural reform, but I think an EU of some sort will still be there in 2030, say.

3. Meaning Farage, Johnson et al? Yes.

4. Too big a question to answer in one line, and besides I don't believe that all freedom is good: see the Second Amendment.

I find the results of the referendum shocking and depressing

And no man is free who has a thousand ancestors. No nation is free either, people and nations are interdependent.
