Another fine sunny day and somewhat cooler after the recent hot and humid days we have had. Spent most of the day reading as i have three books on the go at the moment, one on radio history, one on Victorian art, and a novel.

Today i had a double pepperoni pizza from Aldi for 80 p and it was absolutely delicious.I am having to be so frugal at the moment due to lack of the mula,or folding money.

The wild rabbits were frolicking in the gardens this morning chasing each other and well, you just had to smile. They could be hares actually, but it was fun to watch.

I was listening to a CD by Anita Baker - along with artists like Carmen Lundy, and the late Minnie Ripperton these are sonorous voices that makes a Sunday pleasant.

Hares are so much bigger than rabbits, it should be easy to tell them apart. I love watching animals doing their thing.

I know I've not been around for a while so excuse the question but how did you end up in a hostel and are you on a waiting list for accommadation from the council?

A long story but the Cliff notes version is -

Horrible cousin sold property - moved in with girlfriend - i had to leave - end of May.
One week being homeless - then found a room at this hostel - designed to get people back on track and you stay up to 2 years here. Just started to use the council website tp bid for new rented property.

It has been a tough year so far.

That sounds horrible. Good luck with the bidding. It's tough but once you get somewhere you'll be in charge of your own destiny. x

There are lots of bunnies around the apartments where my youngest daughter lives, and each evening she calls me on her cell as she is walking her dog before bed and she's always scolding, "No, Tristan, leave the bunnies alone!" Her dog is intensely curious about all the bunnies hopping all around in the shrubbery and wants to go get one, ha. She isn't sure if he'd try to actually hurt one or not, he's good with cats and birds and other animals but who knows? So she never lets him get too close. I know my dogs would NOT be nice to any wild bunnies they might run across; there is this one squirrel who repeatedly runs along the next door neighbor's back fence chittering at my dogs to get them wild, then it will run up the tree at the back of my yard as if taunting them to come get it; and my dog Max will literally try to climb that tree, barking vociferously because that squirrel is driving him crazy, ha. He's caught a couple doves and sparrows in the back yard and killed them, sigh, though he's never been mean to our cats.

What sort of dogs do you have?

I have a crazed heeler mix named Max and a pit/Boston Terrier mix named Zero. Max is about 3 now, rescued him off the euthanasia list at the pound when he was 7 months; Zero is almost 10 and my son, rest his soul, rescued him after some former neighbors moved away almost 9 years ago and left Zero to starve to death in their back yard. I also have 3 strictly indoor cats, Gabs and Bitty and Kirara (Keelala).

I feel your pain. I have a crazed heeler called Dyna. She's mental, but I totally adore her.

They do have some manic energy sometimes, don't they?! Mine is white with big old black blotches like a cow, ha, and he has huge black bat ears and two black circles around his eyes; he looks so goofy he just makes me smile sometimes. They had this recent 'study' showing how dogs hate being hugged; not Max! He insists on his daily cuddles and hugs and will burrow his snout into the side of my neck and push into me till I wrap my arms around him and squeeze him and thump his sides a couple times and tell him what a good boy he is. He tries to climb in my lap like a lap dog even though he weighs over 50 lbs now, ha. My other dog Zero is getting old and grouchy and sometimes Max's energy gets on his nerves; he'll growl at Max, Max will lower his head and growl back but then he'll try to play bow at Zero and submit and try to lick Zero's mouth. Max's worse thing is food aggression, I had trained him out of that from his shelter days but lately he's kind of started growling at Zero again when they eat and I have to move their bowls apart and stand between them and tell Max "NO!" really stern before he'll quit.

I'm glad you had good weather on Sunday. So did I! (Unlike today.)

That pizza sounds absolutely delicious. And what a price!

Love rabbits :) See them at my daughter's, as I have said. I have hares here. I don't see them much. They are not in the numbers of rabbits. The rabbits at my daughter's are all colours. The hares here are always the same browny colour.

Ooh, lucky! I've still yet to see a hare. I do observe a couple rabbit warrens when the weather's good, though, and delight in sharing the odd photo of them. (Almost all just standard grey, with the occasional black, and once in a while, a more beige-sandy hue)

I've never seen a rabbit warren. I love your rabbit pics. They look much like our hares. Hares hold themselves differently - more up right - and I only see one pair (or one half of a pair) at a time. The best times to see them are at dawn and dusk. The rabbits you describe sound just like the ones at my daughter's: black, black and white, white, ginger, light ginger, a few speckled. She often can tell which ones are the babies of which by their colour and who they hang around with :)

Wow, certainly can't beat that price! I'll have to give my local branch a look - they just happen to be slightly out of the way, so my usual territory tends to be Sainsbury, or, for deliveries (particularly now, as Sainsbury appear to have ended their "basics" diet cola, and that and sparkling water tend to be a good part of my justification for deliveries - far, far easier having them turn up with 15 2l bottles of diet cola and 15 2l bottles of sparkling water at 17p each than hefting all that back on the bus!), Tesco, despite that company's wretched support of shoving people into "not jobs, so minimum wage doesn't apply, but jobs, so they don't count as unemployed" positions. But that's another ball of wax. =:P

Similarly Morrison's - just that bit out of the way. Still, I should see sometime if they still have that lovely Italian style ham at the deli counter.. that said, economy dictates my meaty snacking is now largely occupied by the dirt cheap "cooking bacon" at Sainsbury and Tesco, or the occasional bit of reduced haslet. =:9

And yay for feisty buns! Even when "mine" aren't up to anything in particular, I enjoy simply watching them go about their business. I'd imagine they're more likely to be rabbits than hares, given hares tend to be more solitary, whilst Oryctolagus cuniculus is particularly social.
