What got you started on Live Journal?

Who was your first LJ friend?

How many times have you changed your user name and if you haven't, have you ever thought about it?

#2 daughter got me on lj and she was my first friend.

I haven't ever changed my user name. It is quite apt because I am known as the Snake Lady around these parts ie I remove carpet snakes (pythons) from neighbour's chook yards but not from their territory.

A friend of mine from a fiction and fan forum recced it to me.

Aelf. The friend who got me started here.

I have, but only to remove the 'a'. Heck with it, though. I'm used to my name. :D

My friend told me it was helping her write regularly.

The aforementioned friend, [livejournal.com profile] annaotto.

Just once, from missnegativity to sabotabby, because my IRL identity was in danger of being discovered. I've also had two other journals, gaybortion (for my shitty, now defunct webcomic) and iamyourspy (for fanfic).

Lots of people I knew on usenet were migrating over here, and it fulfilled a different need from usenet.

I have no idea!

I've never changed it. I'm happy with it.

I was a very late adopter and was reading lots of LJ blogs and finally decided to create my account just so I could comment. It was a couple of years before I finally started posting.

I can't remember who I actually added first, but I'll always consider [livejournal.com profile] badrobot68 my official first LJ friend.

I've never changed it and I use the same name everywhere else when it's not already taken.

Fic writing.

I can't remember.

[livejournal.com profile] wiccan_5 was my first journal. It's empty now (aside from one entry), as I moved everything across when I started this journal.

1. My ex thought it might be the best format for me as I enjoy writing essays. I started in 2003, but hit my stride in 2004.

2. My first friendings were Barak, Bear Brat and bluedevilsf. The first name is my ex, the other two are guys I knew well in person ... They are deceased:(

3. I am still going under MrDreamJeans. I haven't ever considered changing my user name. Actually, I think I got it right the first time. It suits me.

Never changed it, and I guess I have never really thought about it either. :)

I read a news article (this was in 2003) about some kid who worked at an Apple store and posted some confidential info from the store on LJ, and of course he got fired. I went online to see what this "LiveJournal" thing was, and I checked it out ... and the rest is history.

There were a couple of local LJ-ers who I friended right away ... both a little odd, and both long gone from here.

I changed my name once, after a co-worker started reading my LJ without telling me. But I don't worry about that sort of stuff anymore. :)

I first heard about it through a snail mail pen pal (who actually has posted within the last year or so, but we're still good buddies on FB) around 03/04.

I don't remember for absolute sure, but one of the first who I didn't know through other platforms is risingbeatnik, who last posted early in 08
:(

Never. I mostly like it--sometimes find the "poet" part a little twee in this context, but not enough to make it worth the identity change

Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom started me on LJ (as that's where the fandom moved from the quickly dying email lists and forums)

My first friend was [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog

Never changed the name, probably considered it but not in a long time.

A person I had come to know through an online writing program based on The Artists Way talked all about this online community and that you had to receive an invite before you could join. I hinted and then blatantly requested an invite from her.

I started in December 2003. She became my first LJ 'friend'. Melissamh. She remains a friend but she only posts rarely these days.

I've never been inclined to change my username. I thought, since it was not my full legal name, that I would retain a certain degree of anonymity (being ignorant of search engines and how they operated). After a relative violated my trust by cyberstalking me, I lock all my posts which means I don't acquire many new LJ friends, but the peace of mind offered by locking my posts is worth the hassle.

At first, it was because some people on a Harry Potter forum I was on at the time had LJs, but I only started using it regularly because I was in Mighty Boosh fandom, which was on LJ at the time. :)

I don't know--most of my original friends don't post anymore, anyway!

I have never changed my username, but I do think about it, but I feel like it would be weird to change it, even though I feel like I don't like it that much.

A rather well-known historical fantasy author used to post quite regularly on LiveJournal. I used to comment anonymously from time to time, but one day discovered that anonymous commenting had been disallowed on the account. Started my own account to be able to comment, and have kept it going since.

Some of my earliest friends have been [livejournal.com profile] naominovik, [livejournal.com profile] jpsorrow, [livejournal.com profile] eriksdb, and [livejournal.com profile] sageofthpalouse. Some I've friended, and some have friended me. Only one seems to post somewhat regularly now.

My user name comes from the Stone Island Sea Stories, the naval adventure/age of sail (with science fiction touch) series I'm writing. I've never really thought about changing it, nor am I worried about my actual identity becoming known. Heck, I just about give it a way on occasion.

Tom Howling nudged me into it, and gave me a referral token, which you required to join up at the time. ^_^

Probably him, most likely.

Never. I'm me. Though I may change. =:)
