We often say, "The movie (TV show) was okay, but the book was better." However, have you seen a movie (TV show)that was much better than the book?

Do you read books that movies (TV shows) are based upon just to see how different they are?

Would you stop reading a book because it wasn't like the movie or walk out of a movie (TV show)that wasn't like the book?

Do you have a humidifier? Do you think it makes a difference?

An open question - What could you do without right now?

Not as such, yet, but I felt elements of the 1958 Hammer version of Hound of the Baskervilles had one embellishment on Stapleton which improved on the original.

A few times and often quite some interesting surprises

Not really in either case as the mediums are different and often changes are necessary to fit the medium. However if it is just a bad film/book...

Not at home but we had one at work as leaky pipe caused a temporary damp problem in of the rooms and it did help.

I try not to judge books over movies/TV series (or the other way around). They're completely different formats with different limitations. Movies and TV series are much more visual, for example, and you can't really get inside a character's head the same way as a book can. It makes it really hard for them to be comparable.

Yes, sometimes.

No.

No, but I would consider getting one.

I could really do without the added financial stress of Zach's tax return being overpaid/having to pay it back.

The canonical "Movie was better than the book" is Jaws; even Peter Benchley, author of the book, admitted the movie was just plain better.

I've more often already READ the book(s) before I see their media adaptations.

Walking out/stopping would depend on just WHAT was changed and how drastic it was. I don't recall having DONE it, but then it takes a lot to get me to walk out of a movie.

I actually have a DEhumidifier, in the basement, which is necessary to reduce mold growth. We have a couple humidifiers but they don't get used often.

I could do without being in debt to anyone or anything!

Blade Runner. And Twilight, but that's damning with faint praise.

9 times out of 10 I'm only interested in watching an adaptation if I've read the book.

I almost walked out of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (I loved the book) except that I was fascinated by how bad it was.

Nope. It probably would, but it'd be another thing in my house.

I could do without our antiquated software and network at work.

I can only think of one, and that was 'Awakenings'. The book was very good, but it's a medical book, not a novel. The movie brought the doctor and the patients to vivid life.

No.

Depends on whether 'different' mean 'shitty' or not.

Yes, but I haven't used it in a couple of years. It really does help my sinuses when I have a cold, thought.

All the political crap on the TV, the 'net, and in the mail. Today there were three separate pieces from one representative. There was stuff in yesterday's mail from him, too. I can't imagine how much money that is costing. And I won't vote for him no matter home many things he sends in the mail!

Hmmm...yes, once, but I can't remember what it was, now.

Yes, I do.

Never for the former and I've never walked out of a movie, although I have complained that it was not like the book.

No. If I had one, it would make everything mouldy :P

I could do with rain!

I don't think I have seen a movie/show that was better then a book. Some that were as good, but not better.

Not really to see how different.
Actually I have gotten to the point, I would rather read the book before I saw the movie if possible.

For the cost of a movie, it would have to be REALLY bad for me to walk out of it.

No humidifier here, although some times I wish we did.

I could really do without the pain in my shoulder now.
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs, Jon

I thought the movie Kingsmen: The Secret Service was MUCH better than the graphic novel. They amped up the tech in the movie and made it a little more 'thinky' than the GN. I started reading the Mockingjay series when the first movie came out and I thought they did a good job adapting the source material.

What could I do without right now? I could easily do without being unemployed! I could also do without not receiving unemployment benefits!

Not that I can remember. On par with, but not better.

Nope. Usually I avoid anything that was in book form but was made into film - with exceptions of course.

Well, Resident Evil wasn;t like the videogames and I had to force myself to watch the first one then missed the others deliberately. So close. But not exactly.

Nope. But they do! wish I had one!

Stress.
