Nore sonic bricolage -
Daphne Oram - The Oram Tapes
Phensic (1961).
Illustrations (Fireworks/Ardwich High School) (1967).
New Atlantis (1963).
Stroke (1965).
Although not as well known or as revered as Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram was an unlikely looking pioneer of electronic sound and music. In 1958 she co-founded the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and was its first studio manager but left shortly after to open her Oramics Studios for Electronic Composition.
Delia Derbyshire - Blue Veils and Golden Sands
Recorded in the mid '60s, this Delia Derbyshire composition was mostly created using electronic oscillators - severely high-pass filtered - to give the "shimmering heat haze" backdrop. Delia has since referred to the piece as including her "castrated oboe", but the only non-electronic source really recorded is her voice, cut up and re-pieced.
Pierre Schaeffer -- Études de bruits (1948)
00:00 Étude aux chemins de fer - trains
02:53 Étude aux tourniquets - toy tops and percussion instruments
04:52 Étude violette - piano recorded for Schaeffer by Boulez
08:12 Étude noire - piano recorded for Schaeffer by Boulez
12:11 Étude pathétique - sauce pans, canal boats, singing, speech, harmonica, piano
Tod Dockstader - Water Music, Part 3
Taken from the release "Drone, Two Parts Of Apocalypse, Water Music" by Tod Dockstader (1966)
Maryanne Amacher: Living sound (1980)
Enjoy.
