Well i did get to London today after doing an errand for L but as it was a fine sunny morning so i thought it was a good idea to go up the rail line.Being sod law's in the affirmative,it didn't stay that way ,and when i got to London i got soaked between Ray's Jazz Shop at Foyles and Sister Ray,Selectadisc etc. I was mostly exchanging some old vinyl and CD's of mine anyway - haven't got round to doing Paul's lot til i pick up some more from him.
Trunching through the rain, hair very wet, i did find some nice stuff on my exchanges. Three on Black Saint ,"Barbeque Dog" by Ronald Shannon Jackson and The Decoding Society" (Antilles) for £5 and a lovely Jack DeJohnette "Special Edition" on ECM for £6.
The three Black Saint Lp's are David Murray Quartet "Long Goodbye", Billy Bang Quartet "Invitation" and Max Roach with Anthony Braxton "Birth and Rebirth".
Also got the latest Ornette Coleman CD "Sound Grammar" (Sound Grammar 2006). It hit the top ten of Wire's review of the year.
