Quite a few new posts to the WEIRDSOUNDZ site of late which is mostly in the exotica, lounge and soundtrack category so please check it out , and i am still looking for contributors for this LJ site.
Two articles from G2 recently on Chris Watson http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/fe aturepages/0,,2002517,00.html and Albert Ayler http://film.guardian.co.uk/featur es/featurepages/0,,2002660,00.html to follow on from the 15 ninute spot of Chris Watson on Radio 4. (Thanks for Richard Sanderson for this one).
Picked up a copy of The Bugaloos "Bugaloos" CD reisssue on El records for £2 whilst in London on Tuesday, and "International Sad Hits Vol. One" curated by Damon and Naomi featuring tracks by Mikami Kan and others, and now have a couple of classic 13th Floor Elevators albums, basically their first two albums. From Intoxica! in Portobello Road picked up The Alan Tew Sound "Latin Style" LP (Contour) for £1 in their sale. Nice stuff and already posted to my WEIRDSOUNDZ site.
Today picked up a Tom Jones LP and a Moog album on Contour both for 25 p each in a charity shop in Worthing, and also reviewed on the other site of mine.Worthing does seem cheaper to find good vinyl than Brighton.
Have to pick up Tiggy's ashes from the vets as well, as they phoned yesterday for me to collect. Will scatter her ashes in my brother's garden,so possibly will do that at the weekend. Give her a good send off with food and lashings of alcohol - a kind of wake if you like.
L. is watching that boring BRIT awards night on the TV - none of the artists appeals to me whatsover and its just the industry licking itself and preening themselves in the false notion of how lovely the music industry and these pale imitation of artists are - (Crap!) luvvies - NOTHING to do with REAL music !!! Also,it is based on sales mostly not the quality of the music. At least The Mercury Music Award is a bit more interesting.
Cat Power (one of my favourites) got nominated in the international female category but failed to win,so again crap wins out agianst quality but there is some lovely videos of Cat Power via You Tube at http://www.matadorrecords.com/cat_power/music.html as i think she totally deserves an award.
