This morning the cash machine at the Co-op had no cash so I had to go to Faversham to my bank to get it. I had a visit in Sittingbourne to do for the fist hour of the afternoon, and I could not rely on when the security men would come along to refill the ATM.
Whist in Faversham I picked up a paperback for a £1 and one for 75 pence.
They are -
John Rawls “A Theory of Justice” (Harvard University Press)
He was the professor who introduced the Justice series on the BBC last year and through the Open University.
Edward De Bono “Six Thinking Hats” (Penguin)
After my visit in Sittingbourne I pooped into the Summoner for a couple of pints of foaming ale specifically Moothouse's APA Special (4.8 % ABV) and Hilden Scullion's Irish Ale (4.6 % ABV).
I then went to Sainsbury's and got a whole cooked chicken for dinner. Spot has not been feeling well, has a sore throat and a hellish cold, probably symptoms of flu, with hot and cold flushes so I did the dinner this evening. We had veg and new potatoes with it.
I met Phil in the supermarket and he drove me back to Teynham.
I haven't completed the Montaigne book as I keep reading passages from it which I find so beautiful and apt. Such as this example -
“There is,a certain respect, and a general duty of humanity, that attaches us,not only to animals, who have life and feeling, but even to trees and plants. We owe justice , and mercy and kindness to other creatures that may be capable of receiving it. There is some relationship between them and us, and some mutual obligations”
I concur with this philosophy.
