London Xchange 2
Aug. 27th, 2007 10:15 pmA trip to London today and a gander at the yearly Notting Hill Carnival.
Took some vinyl, books and old DVDs to exchange as well at the usual emporiums for said stuff. Got about £15 in exchange as it was one small bag worth of records mostly from Sunday's boot fair when at the end of the event i picked up forty singles for a quid only and took the chaff up with me to London (more about them later).
Anyway got the following -
45's
Funky Music Machine - Gotta Clean Up The World (Black Top Records)
Eddie Warner - Devil's Anvil (Jazzman)
Leon Thomas - Thank You Baby (Don 1975)
Willie Henderson - The Dance Master (Contempo 1973)
LP's
Various Artists - Dance Jiuice (BGP 1988) - some great jazz and funk here
Various Artists - Stax Funk, Get Up And Get Down (Stax 1989) - yo,heavy on the funk too.
Various Artists - Spirit of Rock,The Probe Sampler (MFP 1972) - for "Free Spirit" by Birtha and BB King "Summer In The City"
Johnny Otis and His Orchestra - Back To Jazz (Jazz World Records 1977)
James Last - Beach Party (Polydor 1970) - for one track "Happy Brasilia"
Nancy Sinatra - Nancy's Greatest Hits (Reprise 1970)
Ruben Blades y Seis del Solar - Buscando America (Elektra 1984)
A good groovy bunch indeed
Oh yes, yesterday near to 2pm i went back to the station car boot fair and picked up a bag full of records a stall holder did not fancy taking back home with him and gave the lot to me for a quid. About forty plus singles that is!! Most of them are naff (in my opinion) and it is half of these which i got the xchange value to get the others listed above. However, amongst the chaff and chunder there was some gems i did keep which included the two copies of "Pepper Box" by the Peppers and the "Great Egg Race" single (reviewed in my WEiRDSOUNDZ site) plus one by Tony Ellis called "Punky Reggae" (Sonet1978) with a superb reggae B side caled "Our Music". Infact a double header. Worth a quid alone.
